It is important for the seedlings to reach the proper level of maturity. This will vary according to different growing conditions and should serve only as a guide. Note the number of weeks from seed to transplant. The following are guidelines for growing vegetable transplants. Starting seeds too soon will result in overgrown transplants of poor quality. An excessively warm greenhouse will cause rapid, spindly growth. When dibbling seed trays, try to avoid compressing the mix gently press to ensure a small indentation for seeds. ![]() This damage cannot be remedied after creating this compaction. Stacking containers causes compacted media with reduced air space. Once filled, avoid nesting or stacking trays on top of one another. To prevent compaction that encourages damping-off diseases and poor root growth, lightly fill containers, including plug trays, and brush the excess media off the top. Over-processed media quickly loses porosity, resulting in stunted transplants. If mixing your own media, thoroughly mix components, but do not over-mix, which will cause particle size to decrease. Most growers work with a moisture content of 45-55% by weight. Satisfactory filling moisture is achieved if the slightest bit of visible water appears when squeezed between the fingers. The major goal is to preserve the air space or porosity to ensure healthy root growth.Īdd water to peat-based mixes before filling plug trays to help create more aeration. How soilless growing media is handled can greatly influence the air space and available water for plant roots. Never store your seeds in the greenhouse because long term storage for their quality can quickly deteriorate due to the high temperatures and relative humidity in the greenhouse. As soon as seedlings develop their first true leaves, they can be transplanted. Seeds can also be grown on greenhouse benches with bottom heat. Germination chambers are available from your greenhouse distributor and provide uniformity of temperature and moisture. ![]() After sowing the seeds, gently mist with tempered, warm water. Seeds can be sown by hand or with mechanical seeders such as vacuum seeders or needle seeders. Larger seeds can be covered with vermiculite. Some seeds, such as lettuce, need light for germination and should not be covered. Seeds can be sown in rows in open flats or in plug trays. Most seeds have optimum temperatures for germination. Plan your seedling schedule for your transplant season and keep good records. Organic growers need to obtain seeds from organic sources whenever possible. Seeds may also be coated, pelleted, primed or treated with fungicides. Request the germination percentage for the seed lots that you purchase. All is not lost if you act quickly, but don't wait for visible signs of trouble, it will be more work in the long run.Always purchase high quality seed from a reputable source that is tested for germination rates, uniform emergence and viability. When a seedling is weakened or damaged after waiting too long to transplant, it will be difficult (and take much longer) to bring it back to good health and begin to thrive again. In this case, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. They will no longer be able to utilize nutrients or oxygen and the plant will deteriorate. This is ok to a point, but once the roots become so heavily coiled and bound in the bottom of the pot, they produce a hard mass and begin to choke themselves out. As the root system grows, it eventually fills the small pot or cell it is in. ![]() I do not recommend trying to feed small seedlings with any type of liquid fertilizer when in a fragile state, there is a high chance you will burn and kill them. Remedy this by planting into a larger size pot with fresh, quality potting soil. The nitrogen in the soil has been depleted. The entire plant might also be changing from a dark green to light or pale green. This is a big sign that your plant has used up all the nutrients available in its tiny cell or pot and it needs some fresh soil with new nutrients. This happens starting from the very bottom leaves and progresses upwards. Leaves on the plant are starting to turn yellow. ![]() ![]() ![]() The difference between urgent and important tasks Struggle to say “no” when asked to do something.Aren’t making progress on long-term goals. Are busy, but feel like your work has little impact.Run around putting out fires all day, rather than focusing on tasks you want to complete. The Eisenhower Matrix uses this same principle to sort out the less urgent and important tasks on your list, which you can then delegate or not do at all. President Eisenhower is said to have arranged his obligations so that only the important and urgent matters came across his desk. Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States, known for his high output and organization. It splits tasks into four boxes that prioritize which tasks you should focus on first and which you should delegate or delete.Īlso known as the Urgent-Important Matrix, it was popularized by Stephen Covey in his best-selling book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The Eisenhower Matrix is a simple decision-making tool that helps you make the distinction between tasks that are important, not important, urgent, and not urgent. The urgent are not important, and the important are never urgent.” “I have two kinds of problems: the urgent and the important. The Eisenhower Matrix helps you make that distinction and improve your time management. By distinguishing between urgent and important tasks, you can focus more time and energy on the things that matter most. It’s easy to get stuck in this reactionary cycle where you constantly put out fires, robbing yourself of the opportunity to work toward your goals. When you focus too much time on urgent tasks, you neglect the important ones on your to-do list. Humans prioritize time-sensitive tasks over any other task, regardless of the long-term payoffs. This is a costly and emotionally draining way to spend your time. You could spend hours putting out fires and, at the end of the day, be no closer to reaching your long-term goals. Being busy is not the same as being productive. ![]() ![]() ![]() This is why you can find aftermarket rear suspensions on many Venture models. However, many owners studded the track on their Venture to get the most out of the machine. The Venture 600 utilized a 136” x 15” rubber track that offered stellar traction. What’s more, they were also known for their durability, reliability, and excellent fuel consumption. The ’97 – ‘98 models featured a 598cc engine rated at 95 HP, although the sled had an engine upgrade in 1999. To be more precise, the engine of the Yamaha Venture 600 was a liquid-cooled, 2-stroke, single-piped triple. Powered by a smooth 2-stroke power mill, the Venture 600 triple was one of the best touring snowmobiles at the time. They utilized a comfortable chassis and long-travel suspensions, and had many convenience features. These machines were known as “the Cadillacs of the trails” and with good reason! Yamaha Venture 500 XL (VT500XL) – Manufactured: 1999-2000Īll of these machines shared the same chassis but as their name suggest, they were offered with different engine options. Therefore, the liquid-cooled Yamaha Venture series consisted of four different models, which were as follows: The liquid-cooled Venture 600 and 500 both debuted in 1997, while the line was rounded up with the more powerful Yamaha Venture 700 in 1998. So it was no accident that this sled won the “Snowmobile of the Year” prize given by American Snowmobiler in 1991!Īfter a couple of years of production, the Japanese manufacturer completely redesigned this family in the late 1990s. This is why we’re taking on projects that will keep the game healthy in the long run, like refactoring large swaths of old code, optimizing our development tools, future-proofing WvW with the World Restructuring system, and updating our engine. More than ever, we’re confident in our future and we’re committed to long-term support for this community. Meanwhile, the number of features slowly crept upward, without a plan or designated resources to maintain them. In this case, it meant that the core game took a back seat. That’s not a bad thing by default, but every development strategy has tradeoffs-different pros and cons. Over the past decade, our development strategy has skewed more toward addition, rather than iteration. Because the systems introduced in expansions like Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns™, Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire™, and Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons™ are so ubiquitous and central to the player experience, they deserve iteration just as much as any true “core” system. When we introduce features to Guild Wars 2, we want those new tools to be relevant across the entire game-past, present, and future. In the context of supporting the live game and our new development strategy, “core” also encapsulates the long list of content and features that have been added to the game over the past decade. Player, dungeons, Fractals of the Mists dungeons, crafting-the list goes on. ![]() Systems-wise, that’s a huge chunk of the game: core Tyria and the story up to level 80, professions, World vs. Let’s start by defining the “core game.” Core is typically viewed as synonymous with the base Guild Wars 2 experience-anything that doesn’t require an expansion. Q: How does this shift result in more support for the core game? We’ve already hired a bunch of new folks since January, and we’ll be opening additional roles throughout the year. In fact, thanks to the growth that Guild Wars 2 saw in 2022, we’re increasing the size of the Guild Wars 2 development team-largely in content and systems design. Q: Do smaller expansions mean that there are fewer developers working on Guild Wars 2? ![]() You can read a more detailed overview of the change in the February Studio Update. Once that expansion’s year-long cycle is complete, the next expansion will be just around the corner. Alongside these expansion content updates, we’re beefing up our support for the core game so we can iterate and improve on Guild Wars 2, even while releasing new expansion content on a more consistent schedule. In the following quarterly updates, we’ll add story chapters, an additional open-world map, challenge modes for the Strike Missions, a new fractal dungeon and challenge mode, new rewards, additions to the new systems introduced in that expansion, and-depending on the release plan for that expansion-new gameplay and combat features. In this new model, the first release in an expansion cycle will introduce a new story arc and setting, two new open-world maps, two Strike Missions, new gameplay and combat features, new Masteries, and new rewards. Rather than releasing an expansion every 2–4 years with 1–2 seasons of Living World in between, we’ll be releasing smaller expansions, with a lower price, much more frequently. We’re changing how we deliver updates to the game so that we can adopt a more consistent release schedule, minimize “content droughts,” and increase our support for the core game.
